Witheridge on a walk in Mid Devon

Route

Park near to the pub in Witheridge and head along the main road for a short distance then turn right down the road towards the Post Office. Just before the post office turn left down a lane following the sign for the Two Moors Way. After a stile carry straight on, on the Two Moors way ignoring the Ridge & Valley footpath to your right on which you will return later. Follow the footpath across 5 fields heading towards the Farm at Woodford. Here take the farm track to the road and go straight over following the two moors waymarks. At another lane cross straight over to follow the path down a farm track to Stourton Barton. At the farm the path leaves the track to head downhill across the fields. Cross the stream and head uphill towards Washford Barton skirting between two wooded areas.

Turn right onto the lane to follow the Two Moors Way still. At a sharp left bend in the lane turn right onto a farm track. Follow the Two Moors path through Washford Wood then uphill to another lane. Turn right here, leaving the Two Moors Way now to follow a footpath along the edge of a hill. As you descend the short steep section of the hill turn right just after the stile at the bottom of the hill. Follow this footpath now as it crosses two streams then turns right to head uphill to Marchweeke Farm. Here head through the farm and follow it’s track upto the road. Turn left and walk along the road to Thelbridge Cross, being aware of traffic. Turn right at the crossroads by the pub. Follow this road now for nearly a mile and turn right onto the first footpath you see, which is the Ridge & Valley Walk. This will now take you back to Witheridge.

Follow this path as it goes up to Thelbridge Hall Farm then descends down to the stream and heads uphill across 4 fields. Head between the ponds and cross over a field. Ignore a footpath to the left in the next field and continue up to a crossroads of paths turning left to rejoin the Two Moors Way into Witheridge. Retrace your steps back to your car or the pub as appropriate!
