Route

Start from Torquay and take the bus to Maidencombe. This is a frequent service and reasonably priced. From the bus stop in Maidencombe head down the lane opposite. This is a steep hill so take care, especially in the wet. At the end of the lane join the South West Coast Path and turn right. This path is very easy to follow and the short instructions are to continue along it for 7 miles until you reach Torquay Marina!

However there are a couple of points to note.

At Watcombe Golf Course the path splits. The lower path is a more strenuous route through the woods, whilst the upper path takes you across part of the golf course. The choice is yours on which path to take, although the lower option is more scenic.

Shortly after this a path on the right takes you up to Babbacombe model village. This is a wonderfully quirky visitor attraction and is well worth a visit.

At the end of Oddicombe Beach the path comes out onto the road and heads uphill, as you near the top take a sharp left, leaving the road to continue on the path.

The final point to watch for is after the long stretch following the road by Meadfoot Beach the path leaves the road on the left and this gate can be difficult to spot. This is in front of Hesketh Crescent, if you pass the road entrance to the crescent you've gone too far!
