Terrain difficulty: Easy-Moderate- going can be heavy in the wet. One small valley to traverse
Ease of navigation: Moderate- navigating over open moorland can be difficult
Animal Dangers: Minimal- although hopefully you will see the lovely Dartmoor Ponies

Travelling out of Tavistock on the B3357 park in the first large parking area you come to on your right after the turning to Higher Longford.
From the car park you are greeted with a wonderful view of open moor land to the north and south. In this walk you are heading off over the area to the south to take in the Tors that can be seen in the distance. Leave the car park heading due south and follow the main path that heads over towards a boundary on your right. Follow this path as it takes you down to meet the lane near Moortown. At this point a short walk along the lane could take you to the hamlet know as Pennycomequick, which is worth a visit for the immature amongst us.
For everyone else do not head along the lane instead head south east towards Pew Tor. The main path takes you around behind the Tor and then meets a track. Turn right at the junction with the track to follow it NE over to Heckwood Tor. Pass Heckwood Tor and head due north leaving the track to follow a path onto Vixen Tor. Here leave that footpath and strike out in to the NW. Here cross a stone wall and then head due north to return to the car park over Whitchurch Common.
